Play-Offs Round 3: Piratas - Academia 95-88

Piratas overcame Academia in the decisive third game of the playoff series to book their semifinal appearance. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 95-88. Piratas looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a good game for American guard Brandon Givens (198-87, college: NC-Wesleyan) who led his team to a victory with 36 points (!!!) and 4 assists. Venezuelan guard Jovanni Diaz (195-92) contributed with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Givens is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Puerto Rican Joel Rodriguez answered with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds and the former international power forward Divier Perez (201-89) added 15 points and 13 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) in the effort for Academia. Four Piratas and five Academia players scored in double figures.
