Regular Season Round 1: Sakarya BSB - Mamak DSI 90-83

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Mamak DSI (0-1) in Sakaraya on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Sakarya BSB (1-0) 90-83. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 31-15. But Mamak DSI won second period 21-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Sakarya BSB shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 54.2 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Terry Smith (185-86, college: Mercyhurst) who helped to win the game recording 14 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. His fellow American import Sean Evans (203-88, college: St.John's) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Five Sakarya BSB players scored in double figures. American guard Jason Clark (188-90, college: Georgetown) answered with 26 points and 5 rebounds and center Cem Coskun (209-87) added 17 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Mamak DSI. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sakarya BSB is looking forward to face Gediz (#5) on the road in the next round. Mamak DSI will play against Balikesir and is hoping to win this game.
