Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both seventh ranked Sokol Pisek and 8th ranked Kara Trutnov had identical 1-3 record. This time Sokol Pisek used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Trutnov 86-75 on Friday night. Sokol Pisek outrebounded Kara Trutnov 51-36 including 38 on the defensive glass. Kara Trutnov was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was swingman Petr Slechta (192-95) who had a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Zdenek Kostohryz (191-89) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds. Sokol Pisek's coach Miroslav Janovsky used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Center Jakub Kasa (200-92) produced 25 points and 5 rebounds and forward Marek Haffner (190-90) added 10 points and 11 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Newly promoted Sokol Pisek maintains seventh place in Group A with 2-3 record. Loser Kara Trutnov dropped to the ninth position with four games lost. Sokol Pisek will face higher ranked Sokol Prazky (#4) in Praha in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Kara Trutnov will play at home against Basket Kosice (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
