Regular Season Round 5: Perlas-MRU - Ezerunas-Karys 60-63

Ezerunas-Karys' fans can celebrate the first win of their team after four consecutive loses. The victory is especially important as they edged much higher ranked Perlas-MRU (1-4) on the road game in Vilnius 63-60 on Friday. Perlas-MRU trailed by 14 points at halftime and as many as 15 after three quarters before a 28-16 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 60-63 at the end of the game. Ezerunas-Karys dominated on the defensive end, holding Perlas-MRU to just 3 points in second quarter. Ezerunas-Karys had a 32-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. Center Edgaras Sosnovskis (206-91) orchestrated the victory by scoring 16 points and 8 rebounds. Forward Raimundas Ambrulaitis (200-82) contributed with 6 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Swingman Tautvydas Pipiras (198-93) answered with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds and point guard Tomas Galeckas (184-94) added 12 points and 5 steals in the effort for Perlas-MRU. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Ezerunas-Karys left bottom position moving up to twelfth place, which they share with Perlas-MRU and Lietkabelis-2. Ezerunas-Karys will face higher ranked Telsiai (#6) in Telsiu in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
