Regular Season Round 5: Petrochema - Palanga 74-76

Date: October 16, 2015
Another exciting game for Palanga (4-1) which played in Jonava against Petrochema (3-2). Fourth ranked Palanga saved the game by a tiny margin of two points 76-74. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Petrochema won third quarter 22-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Petrochema outrebounded Palanga 49-31 including a 30-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Petrochema was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Point guard Deividas Anuzis (184-92) stepped up and scored 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and center Matas Jucikas (205-94) chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds. Four Palanga players scored in double figures. Forward Henrikas Vorotnikovas (203-90) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds and forward Tomas Milinskas (202-90) scored 9 points and 10 rebounds. Petrochema's coach Kestutis Narusevicius tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Palanga have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Suduva-Mantinga. Petrochema at the other side dropped to the fourth position with two games lost. They share it with Silute and Telsiai. Palanga will play against Rasai (#10) in Raseiniai in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Petrochema will play on the road against Suduva-Mantinga (#3) in Marijampole and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
