Regular Season Round 2: PAOK - Nea Kifisia 67-73

Very expected game when PAOK (0-2) lost to Nea Kifisia (2-0) in Thessaloniki 67-73 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 73-67. It was a great shooting night for Nea Kifisia especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. American guard Jherrod Stiggers (196-92, college: Houston) orchestrated the victory by scoring 17 points (perfect from downtown making all five shots). Point guard Nikos Gikas (186-91, agency: Octagon Europe) contributed with 10 points and 7 assists for the winners. Four Nea Kifisia players scored in double figures. The former international swingman Kostas Vasiliadis (200-84) replied with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and Serbian power forward Nikola Markovic (208-89) added 15 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for PAOK. PAOK's coach Soulis Markopoulos let to play eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Nea Kifisia will face Lavrio (#13) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. PAOK's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Thessaloniki to the arena Aris.
