Rather predictable result in Kaunas where seventh ranked Zalgiris II (4-3) beat 9th ranked Perlas-MRU (2-5) 73-65 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 9 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 73-65. Zalgiris II outrebounded Perlas-MRU 42-28 including a 14-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for center Martynas Sajus (207-96) who led his team to a victory scoring 15 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Kristupas Zemaitis (191-96) helped adding 9 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. At the losing side center Edvinas Jezukevicius (207-90) responded with 19 points and 5 rebounds and guard Margiris Normantas (194-96) scored 16 points and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Zalgiris II moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Perlas-MRU dropped to the tenth position with five games lost. They share it with Nafta-Uni. and Rasai. Zalgiris II will meet Delikatesas (#8) in the next round. Perlas-MRU will play against Vytis and hope to secure a win.
