Bottom-ranked Stroitiel Engels managed to get the second consecutive victory on Saturday night. This time newly promoted Stroitiel Engels won against ninth-ranked Cheboksari 82-72. Stroitiel Engels made 23-of-30 free shots (76.7 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Cheboksari turnovers. Strangely Cheboksari outrebounded Stroitiel Engels 30-18 including 23 on the defensive glass. Power forward Aleksandr Zaykin (206-84) nailed 20 points and 4 steals for the winning side and forward Alexei Kotishevskiy (198-85) accounted for 18 points. Pavel Kolcov came up with 11 points and 6 rebounds and Evgeniy Bogdan added 13 points respectively for Cheboksari in the defeat. Five Cheboksari players scored in double figures. Cheboksari's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Newly promoted Stroitiel Engels maintains eleventh place with 2-1 record. Cheboksari lost their third game in a row. Cheboksari at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with three games lost. Stroitiel Engels will again meet at home higher ranked Cheboksari (#9) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Cheboksari will have a break next round.
