Regular Season Round 5: La Fecha - Pielagos 62-76

Very expected game in Arroyo Encomienda where bottom-ranked La Fecha (0-2) was defeated by leader Pielagos (2-0) 76-62 on Saturday. Pielagos had a 38-23 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. La Fecha was plagued by 33 personal fouls down the stretch. Center Julio De Assis (200-92) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 16 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winners and forward Miguel Molina (197-89) chipped in 20 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Four Pielagos players scored in double figures. Forward Arturo Sarmiento (193-94, agency: Dynamics Global Management) responded with 14 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and guard Janes Casimiro (190-92) scored 16 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Pielagos keeps a position of Group A-A leader, which they share with Santurtzi and Ardoi. Newly promoted La Fecha still closes the standings with two games lost. Pielagos will face Cantbasket (#6) in Santander in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. La Fecha will play on the road against Easo (#11) in San Sebastian and hopes to get finally their first victory.
