Regular Season Round 8: Petrochema - Mazeikiai 78-82

An interesting game for Mazeikiai (8-0) which played road game in Jonava against 4th ranked Petrochema (4-4). Top-ranked Mazeikiai managed to get a 4-point victory 82-78. Petrochema was ahead by 8 points at the halftime before a 41-29 second half run of Mazeikiai. They made 22-of-25 charity shots (88.0 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Mazeikiai especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of power forward Sarunas Beniusis (206-93) who helped to win the game recording 22 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and guard Evaldas Saulys (195-93) who added 14 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Guard Ricardas Verbickas (191-95) responded with 25 points and point guard Tadas Sebeziovas (185-85) scored 24 points (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!). Petrochema's coach Kestutis Narusevicius rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Mazeikiai have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 8-0 record. Petrochema at the other side dropped to the seventh place with four games lost. Mazeikiai will play against Telsiai (#6) in Telsiu in the next round where they are favorite. Petrochema will play on the road against Nafta-Uni. in Klaipeda and hopes to get back on the winning track.
