Leader Gigantes delivered the thirteenth victory. This time they crushed 5th ranked Leonas (5-11) 82-51 in Ponce. The game was mostly controlled by Gigantes. Leonas was better in fourth quarter 12-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gigantes dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Leonas' 34. Gigantes forced 23 Leonas turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Leonas' players. It was a good game for American guard Marissa Kastanek (175-90, college: N.Carolina St.) who led her team to a victory with 18 points and 5 assists. International Jazmine Sepulveda (178-85, college: S.Florida, agency: Merit Management Group) contributed with 15 points and 4 assists for the winners. Four Gigantes players scored in double figures. American forward Markel Walker (185-90, college: UCLA, agency: Regeneracom Sports) replied with 8 points and 10 rebounds and the former international forward Marie Placido (181-87, agency: Gamble Sports Management) added 12 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Leonas. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gigantes (13-2) have an impressive six-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position. Leonas at the other side keep the fifth place with 11 games lost. Gigantes will play against league's second-placed Atenienses in Manati in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Leonas will play at home against Pollitas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
