Regular Season Round 6: Aishin AW - Toyota A. 67-83

Very significant was Toyota A.'s (#7) 16-point road victory against 5th ranked Aishin Wings 83-67. It looked good early as Aishin Wings took a 4-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Toyota A. had a 21-4 second period charge getting the lead and Aishin Wings were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 67-83. Toyota A. dominated on the defensive end, holding Aishin Wings to just 4 points in second quarter. They made 21-of-26 charity shots (80.8 percent) during the game. Toyota A. players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Aishin Wings were plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. International forward Mika Kurihara (178-89) notched 20 points and 7 rebounds to lead the effort and center Mori Binge (180-88) supported her with 14 points and 4 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Four Toyota A. players scored in double figures. Even 15 points by guard Sato Shuhana (160-90) did not help to save the game for Aishin Wings. The former international swingman Tanaka Masaki (171-88) added 10 points and 6 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Toyota A. (4-2) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Denso Iris and Toyota B SR. Aishin Wings at the other side dropped to the seventh position with three games lost. Toyota A. will play against Haneda Vickies (#9) in Tokyo in the next round where they are favorite. Aishin Wings will play on the road against Denso Iris in Kariya and hope to get back on the winning track.
