There was a minor upset when higher ranked Roma Luiss (1-4) were defeated on the road by sixteenth ranked Maddaloni (1-4) 81-67 on Sunday. Maddaloni made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Roma Luiss were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Guard Francesco Chiavazzo (187-87) stepped up and scored 29 points for the winners and naturalized Argentinian Juan Manuel Caceres (199-84, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 17 points and 8 rebounds. Four Maddaloni players scored in double figures. Leonardo Marcon (189-95) responded with 17 points and 8 rebounds and power forward Francesco Ramenghi (209-92) scored 9 points and 10 rebounds. Roma Luiss' coach Andrea Paccarie rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Maddaloni left bottom position moving up to twelfth place in B, which they share with Battaglia and Fiorentina. Maddaloni will face league's second-placed Palermo on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Roma Luiss will play against Viterbo SA (#7) and hope to win that game.
