There was a minor upset when 6th ranked Torino (2-2) was crushed at home by ninth ranked Parma (2-2) 95-72 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Parma. Torino was better in third quarter 32-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 17-of-18 free shots (94.4 percent) during the game. Parma outrebounded Torino 32-20 including 24 on the defensive glass. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. Parma looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Nigerian forward Uju Ugoka (185-93, college: Virginia Tech, agency: Two Points) fired a double-double by scoring 22 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American guard Christine Clark (173-92, college: Harvard, agency: LBM Management) chipped in 28 points and 5 assists. Four Parma players scored in double figures. American guard Yvonne Anderson (170-90, college: Texas, agency: Two Points) produced 24 points and 6 assists and her fellow American import center Jenna Smith (191-88, college: Illinois, agency: Two Points) added 16 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Parma moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Torino. Parma will face Orvieto (#8) at home in the next round. Torino will play against Cagliari CUS and hope to win that game.
