Regular Season Round 11: Saitama Bron. - Niigata Albirex 71-95

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Niigata Albirex (7-1) crushed on the road 12th ranked Saitama Broncos (1-8) 95-71 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Niigata Albirex. Saitama Broncos was better in third quarter 23-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Niigata Albirex forced 21 Saitama Broncos turnovers and outrebounded them 46-22 including a 22-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Niigata Albirex looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. American guard Charles Hinkle (196-88, college: American) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Jamaican-American power forward Ryan Reid (204-86, college: Florida St., agency: Comsport) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Five Niigata Albirex players scored in double figures. American power forward Evan Harris (206-86, college: Harvard, agency: I.D.S. Law) answered with 21 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and the other American import power forward Paul Butorac (208-83, college: E.Washington) added 16 points and 5 assists in the effort for Saitama Broncos. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Niigata Albirex maintains second place with 7-1 record behind leader Okinawa GK. Loser Saitama Broncos keep the twelfth position with eight games lost. Niigata Albirex will have a break next round. Saitama Broncos will play again at home against the league's second-placed Niigata Albirex (#2) and hope to win that game.
