Regular Season Round 5: Eanna - UL Eagles 75-88

The most shocking disappointment of round 5 was a home defeat of 5th ranked Eanna (2-3) to sixth ranked UL Eagles (3-2) 88-75. UL Eagles had a 31-12 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for UL Eagles especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. 27 personal fouls committed by Eanna helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Forward Diarmuid O'Shea (201-96) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and American guard Staats Battle (198-93, college: N.Carolina St.) chipped in 22 points and 7 rebounds. Four UL Eagles players scored in double figures. International forward Luke Thompson (190-94) responded with 20 points and Ciaran Macevilly scored 17 points. Eanna's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. UL Eagles moved-up to fourth place, which they share with UCD Marian. Newly promoted Eanna dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. They share it with Swords Thunder. UL Eagles is looking forward to face UCD Marian (#4) in Dublin in the next round. Eanna's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Dublin Templeogue.
