Regular Season Round 3: MIA Academy - Sokhumi 71-90

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Tbilisi: Sokhumi (#1) and MIA (#6). MIA was crushed at home by 19 points 71-90 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. The game was mostly controlled by Sokhumi. MIA managed to win fourth quarter 27-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded MIA 57-36 including a 35-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Sokhumi looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by MIA's players. The best player for the winners was American guard Matt Glover (196-91, college: USF) who had a double-double by scoring 10 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists. His fellow American import point guard Phillip Miller (185-91, college: Wiley) chipped in 19 points and 5 steals. At the other side the best for losing team was Belarusian center Vladzimir Krysevich (209-91) who recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and American point guard DeAndre Mays (188-87, college: Youngstown St.) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sokhumi are looking forward to face Kutaisi (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. MIA's supporters also look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi Dinamo Tbilisi.
