Regular Season Round 4: Jurmala - Barsy Atyrau 63-79

An interesting game where Kazakhstan Barsy Atyrau (#5) beat host Latvian Jurmala (#4) with 16-point difference 79-63 on Wednesday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Barsy Atyrau. Jurmala managed to win fourth quarter 19-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Mike Burwell (196-90, college: Towson) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import guard Bryan Harrison (188-84, college: Georgia Coll., agency: Global Sports Plaza) who added 11 points, 7 assists and 4 steals during the contest. Four Barsy Atyrau players scored in double figures. At the losing side power forward Maris Ziedins (203-90) responded with 15 points and 6 rebounds and Ukrainian center Oleksandr Kushnirov (208-92) scored 6 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Barsy Atyrau (2-2) moved-up to third place, which they share with Nevezis and Rapla. Jurmala lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. They share it with Jekabpils. Barsy Atyrau will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Jurmala will play against Jekabpils (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
