Regular Season Round 4: Avtodor - PAOK 90-68

There was no surprise in Saratov where 5th ranked Greek PAOK (1-3) was outplayed by second ranked Russian Avtodor (3-1) 90-68 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 90-68. Avtodor outrebounded PAOK 40-18 including a 29-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 56.5 percentage. Avtodor looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Travis Peterson (208-85, college: Samford) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import guard Jeremy Chappell (191-87, college: Robert Morris) who added 10 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists during the contest. Five Avtodor players scored in double figures. At the losing side Serbian power forward Nikola Markovic (208-89) responded with 22 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and swingman Kostas Vasiliadis (200-84) scored 8 points. PAOK's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Avtodor have a solid three-game winning streak. Newly promoted Avtodor maintains second position in Group E with 3-1 record having just -7 point less than leader Dolomiti En. TR, which they share with Besiktas. PAOK lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fourth place with three games lost. Avtodor will face bottom-ranked Szolnok (#6) in Szolnok in the next round. PAOK will play at home against Lietuvos rytas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
