Regular Season Round 10: Petrochema - Ezerunas-Karys 80-72

No shocking result in a game in Jonava where sixth ranked Petrochema (6-4) defeated 11th ranked Ezerunas-Karys (3-7) 80-72. It looked good early as Ezerunas-Karys took a 13-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Petrochema took control winning next two quarters and eventually winning the game that evening by 8 points. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Ezerunas-Karys to just 7 points in third quarter. They outrebounded Ezerunas-Karys 38-24 including 24 on the defensive glass. Petrochema players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Point guard Tadas Sebeziovas (185-85) notched 18 points to lead the effort and point guard Lukas Grabauskas (194-95) supported him with 13 points and 6 rebounds. Even 15 points and 8 rebounds by forward Raimundas Ambrulaitis (200-82) did not help to save the game for Ezerunas-Karys. Center Edgaras Sosnovskis (206-91) added 15 points for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Petrochema moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Ezerunas-Karys at the other side dropped to the twelfth position with seven games lost. Petrochema's next round opponent will be Zalgiris II (#4) in Kaunas. Ezerunas-Karys will play on the road against Nafta-Uni. (#11) in Klaipeda and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
