Regular Season Round 3: Provence Basket - Le Portel 82-78

Le Portel (2-1) recorded a loss in Fos-sur-Mer. Visitors were defeated by Provence Basket (2-1) 82-78. Le Portel was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Provence Basket forced 20 Le Portel turnovers. Strangely Le Portel outrebounded Provence Basket 44-25 including a 18-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Le Portel was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American center LaRon Dendy (205-88, college: Middle Tenn.St., agency: Octagon Europe) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points and 5 rebounds. Naturalized Congolese point guard Loic Akono (176-87, agency: Comsport) helped adding 13 points and 5 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American swingman Antonio Ballard (193-88, college: Miami, OH) with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import Myles McKay (192-86, college: Wisc.-Whitewater) scored 12 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Le Portel players scored in double figures. Provence Basket will play against Boulazac Basket (#4) on the road in the next round. Le Portel will play against Denain Voltaire and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
