Regular Season Round 9: Jiangsu - Shanghai 91-71

Round 9 in WCBA means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Yixing where host Jiangsu Phoenix (5-4) crushed league's leader Shanghai Dahua (7-2) 91-71 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Shanghai Dahua. The game was mostly controlled by Jiangsu Phoenix. Shanghai Dahua managed to win fourth quarter 29-27. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great shooting night for Jiangsu Phoenix especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.9 percentage. The best player for the winners was American forward Jessica Breland (190-88, college: N.Carolina) who scored 25 points and 5 rebounds. International point guard Xiaojia Chen (177-88) chipped in 15 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Five Jiangsu Phoenix players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Australian center Elizabeth Cambage (203-91) who recorded a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds and international forward Jing Huang (183-85) added 24 points respectively. Jiangsu Phoenix moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams. Shanghai Dahua at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. They were joined at the leadership position by Xinjiang who have the same record. Shanghai Dahua will play next round against Henan trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Jiangsu Phoenix will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Bayi Kylin in Yinzhou.
