Regular Season Round 14: Kanazawa Samuraiz - Shiga L-Stars 61-67

Rather predictable result when fifth ranked Shiga L-Stars (7-3) won against 7th ranked Kanazawa Samuraiz (6-6) in Ishikawa 67-61 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 67-61. Shiga L-Stars forced 24 Kanazawa Samuraiz turnovers. Zimbabwean-American Julian Mavunga (203-90, college: Miami, OH) orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points and 8 rebounds. American guard Kejuan Johnson (193-85, college: Long Beach St., agency: Inception Sports) contributed with 10 points and 5 assists for the winners. American forward Marshall Brown (200-85, college: Missouri) replied with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and his fellow American import power forward Andrew Fitzgerald (202-90, college: Oklahoma) added 16 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Kanazawa Samuraiz. Shiga L-Stars moved-up to third place, which they share with Fukushima. Loser Kanazawa Samuraiz dropped to the sixth position with six games lost. Shiga L-Stars will face league's second-placed Hamamatsu Phoenix in Mikawa in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Kanazawa Samuraiz will play on the road against Bambitious Nara (#9) and hope to win that game.
