Regular Season Round 8: KFUM Central - Alvik Basket 77-70

There was no surprise in Stockholm where 8th ranked Alvik Basket (2-4) was defeated by second ranked KFUM Central (6-1) 77-70 on Sunday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 21-18. But Alvik Basket won second period 15-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was swingman Johan Westerlund (191-84) who scored 31 points and 7 rebounds. Jean-charles Coffi chipped in 13 points. Forward Mathias Liljeqvist (196-92) produced 19 points and 7 rebounds and guard Anton Julin (191-91) added 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. KFUM Central have a solid four-game winning streak. Newly promoted KFUM Central maintains second position with 6-1 record having just -1 point less than leader Hogsbo, which they share with IK Eos. Loser Alvik Basket dropped to the ninth place with four games lost. KFUM Central will face Solna Branten (#4) at home in the next round. Alvik Basket will play against Ostersund (#6) and hope to win that game.
