Regular Season Round 5: HAI - Kondicioner 72-70

A very close game took place in Kharkov between HAI and Kondicioner. Second ranked HAI (3-2) got a very close home victory over 4th placed Kondicioner (0-5). HAI managed to escape with a 2-point win 72-70 on Sunday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Kondicioner won third quarter 22-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when HAI won last quarter 18-17. They also forced 30 Kondicioner turnovers. Alona Samokhvalova (182-97) stepped up and scored 17 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and point guard Alina Lakh (164-98) chipped in 13 points. Four HAI players scored in double figures. Guard Olga Kaltchenko (175-86) responded with 23 points and 9 rebounds and guard Tetyana Lebid (165-91) scored 19 points. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Newly promoted HAI maintains second place in League with 3-2 record having just -2 point less than leader Dynamo-NPU. Loser Kondicioner still closes the standings with five games lost. HAI will meet at home DVUFK (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Kondicioner will play against DVUFK and hopes to get finally their first victory.
