Regular Season Round 4: Singapore S. - Mono Vampire 72-66

The game between closely ranked teams ended with fourth ranked Singapore Singapore Slingers' (2-1) home victory over bottom-ranked Thailand Mono Vampire (0-3) 72-66 on Sunday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 18-10. But Mono Vampire won second period 16-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Singapore Slingers dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Mono Vampire's 36. Singapore Slingers forced 19 Mono Vampire turnovers. It was a very good performance for American guard Xavier Alexander (198-88, college: S.Nazarene) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points, 14 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. The other American import center Justin Howard (208-81, college: Mercer) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 16 rebounds for the winners. Four Singapore Slingers players scored in double figures. American center Anthony McClain (213-88, college: Cincinnati) replied with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 16 rebounds and 4 blocks and swingman Ratdech Kruatiwa (191-85) added 15 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Mono Vampire. Mono Vampire's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Singapore Slingers moved-up to third place. Defending Thailand champion Mono Vampire still closes the standings with three games lost. Singapore Slingers will face league's second-placed KL Dragons in Kuala Lumpur in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Mono Vampire will play on the road against Saigon Heat (#5) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
