Universo/Vitoria was ahead by 2 points after three quarters before a 22-18 charge of Liga Sorocaba, which allowed them to win the game. It was a good game for American point guard Worrel Clahar (180-90, college: De Paul) who led his team to a victory with 20 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Guard Arlindo Neto (187-86) contributed with 21 points for the winners. Liga Sorocaba's coach Rinaldo Rodrigues allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Center Renan Leichtweis (211-89) answered with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds and American guard Jason Smith (183-83, college: Al.-Huntsville) added 11 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Universo/Vitoria. Four Universo/Vitoria players scored in double figures. Liga Sorocaba will play against SKY/Basquete (#7) in Aldeota in the next round. Universo/Vitoria will play on the road against Paulistano (#2) in Sao Paolo and hopes to get finally their first victory.
