Regular Season Round 6: Brindisi - Ancona 65-80

Ancona can celebrate finally their first win this season after four consecutive loses. The victory is especially important as it came on the road game in Brindisi, where they defeated Brindisi (0-5) 80-65. The game was mostly controlled by Ancona. Brindisi was better in third quarter 19-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ancona forced 28 Brindisi turnovers. Point guard Margherita Mataloni (172-95) notched 25 points and 7 assists to lead the effort and guard Carola Sordi (181-82) supported her with 29 points. Even 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists by the former international swingman Valentina Siccardi (182-82) did not help to save the game for Brindisi. Power forward Luigia Boccadamo (175-94) added 11 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Ancona (1-4) left bottom position moving up to eleventh place in A2. Brindisi at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with five games lost. Ancona's next round opponent will be higher ranked San Pietro (#3) at home and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Brindisi will play against Bologna (#7) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
