Regular Season Round 12: Palanga - Mazeikiai 88-79

There was a change at the NKL leadership position after last games. Round 12 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Mazeikiai (9-3). They were defeated by third ranked Palanga (9-3) 88-79 on Saturday night. Mazeikiai trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 26-22 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 79-88 at the end of the game. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Mindaugas Reminas (187-86) who helped to win the game recording 25 points (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and forward Povilas Sakinis (199-80) who added 19 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Four Palanga players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was guard Evaldas Saulys (195-93) with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and swingman Vytautas Pikalavicius (197-90) scored 8 points and 11 rebounds. Palanga have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with defeated Mazeikiai. Mazeikiai will play next round against Vytis trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Palanga will try to continue on its current victory against seventh ranked Telsiai in Telsiu.
