Vietnamese Saigon Heat has registered their first victory this season after two consecutive loses. They used home court advantage to defeat Thailand Mono Vampire (0-4) 78-73. Mono Vampire was ahead by 10 points at the halftime before a 46-31 second half run of Saigon Heat. 24 personal fouls committed by Mono Vampire helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American Lenny Daniel (203-87, college: CS Northridge) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 16 rebounds. His fellow American import guard David Arnold (187, college: Mont.St.-Billings) contributed with 23 points and 7 assists for the winners. Four Saigon Heat players scored in double figures. American center Anthony McClain (213-88, college: Cincinnati) answered with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 16 rebounds and Nigerian-Canadian power forward Quincy Okolie (206-88, college: Kaiser) added 10 points, 11 rebounds and 5 blocks in the effort for Mono Vampire. Mono Vampire's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Saigon Heat (1-2) left bottom position moving up to fourth place, which they share with Pilipinas Agilas. It was Mono Vampire's fourth loss in a row. Defending Thailand champion still closes the standings with four games lost. Saigon Heat's next round opponent will be league's leader Hitech in Bangkok and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Mono Vampire will play on the road against the league's second-placed KL Dragons (#2) in Kuala Lumpur and hopes to get finally their first victory.
