Regular Season Round 11: BK Opava - Usti n/Labem 84-73

Very expected game when 8th ranked BK Usti nad Labem (3-6) lost on the road to third ranked BK Opava (7-3) 84-73 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by BK Opava. BK Usti nad Labem managed to win second period 24-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. BK Opava forced 21 BK Usti nad Labem turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was an exceptional evening for power forward Martin Gniadek (202-90) who led the winners and scored 23 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international guard Jakub Sirina (186-87) accounted for 13 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists for the winning side. BK Opava's coach Petr Czudek allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The former international point guard Michal Carnecky (184-85) came up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 assists and American guard Drew Barham (198-89, college: Gonzaga) added 10 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for BK Usti nad Labem in the defeat. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. BK Opava maintains third place with 7-3 record having just two points less than leader BK Decin. Loser BK Usti nad Labem keeps the eighth position with six games lost. BK Opava will meet at home league's second-placed BK Pardubice in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. BK Usti nad Labem will play against USK Praha (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
