Regular Season Round 8: Casvi - Albacete 73-77

There was no surprise in Villaviciosa where 13th ranked Casvi (1-4) was defeated by second ranked Albacete (4-1) 77-73 on Saturday. Casvi trailed by 12 points at halftime and as many as 15 after three quarters before a 31-20 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 73-77 at the end of the game. Albacete dominated on the defensive end, holding Casvi to just 7 points in second quarter. Casvi was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Garrett Nevels (188, college: Hawaii) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 5 rebounds and Cuban forward Georvys Elias (199-81) who added 10 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Four Albacete players scored in double figures. point guard Pablo Munoz (178-91) responded with 21 points and forward Walter Cabral (200-95, agency: Dynamics Global Management) scored 13 points and 7 rebounds. Casvi's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Albacete have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position in Group B with 4-1 record having just -1 victories less than leader Andujar, which they share with Tenerife Naut. Loser Casvi dropped to the eleventh place with four games lost. Albacete will face Torrelodones (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. Casvi will play against Tenerife Naut. (#3) in Santa Cruz and hope to win that game.
