Regular Season Round 6: Qingdao E. - TianJin S. 117-101

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both seventeenth ranked Qingdao Eagles and 16th ranked TianJin Steel had identical 1-4 record. This time Qingdao Eagles used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Tianjin 117-101 on Sunday night. The game without a history. Qingdao Eagles led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American point guard Jonathan Gibson (188-87, college: N.Mexico St., agency: Three Eye Sports) who scored 39 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 8 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). The other American import center Alan Williams (203-93, college: UCSB) chipped in a double-double by scoring 23 points and 18 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Jason Maxiell (201-83, college: Cincinnati) who recorded a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds and forward Nan Zhang (197-81) added 26 points and 5 assists (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field) respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Qingdao Eagles (2-4) moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with 3 other teams. TianJin Steel lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the seventeenth position with five games lost. Qingdao Eagles will face higher ranked Beijing Ducks (#11) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. TianJin Steel will play against Zhejiang Chouzhou Bank (#9) and hope to win that game.
