Regular Season Round 7: Azad - Ayandeh Sazan 97-80
Date: November 19, 2015
Bottom-ranked Ayandeh Sazan (0-7) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 97-80 loss to third ranked Azad (5-2) in Tehran. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. Azad outrebounded Ayandeh Sazan 38-24 including 24 on the defensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for the former international M. Reza Akbari (196-86) who led the winners and scored 18 points and 5 rebounds. The former international guard Emad Salmani (188-90) accounted for 15 points for the winning side. Five Azad players scored in double figures. The former international swingman Iman Zandi (188-81) came up with 26 points and 5 assists and power forward Amir Abbas Mohabbat (200-83) added 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Ayandeh Sazan in the defeat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Azad moved-up to second place, which they share with Petrochimi and Naft Abadan. Ayandeh Sazan lost their seventh game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with seven games lost. Azad's next round opponent will be Petrochimi (#3) in Bandar Imam, which may be the game of the day. Ayandeh Sazan's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tehran Army.
