Regular Season Round 8: Mamak DSI - Meliksah 91-75

There was a small surprise in Ankara where fourteenth ranked Mamak DSI (3-5) won against 12th ranked Meliksah (3-5) 91-75 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Mamak DSI. Meliksah was better in fourth quarter 26-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Meliksah 34-22 including 27 on the defensive glass. Mamak DSI looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Jason Clark (188-90, college: Georgetown) who helped to win the game recording 21 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and point guard Ali Kavaklioglu (186-86) who added 9 points and 8 assists during the contest. Four Mamak DSI players scored in double figures. Mamak DSI's coach Altar Tunckol used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Jeremy Ingram (190-92, college: N.C.Central) responded with 24 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals and his fellow American import Curtis Kelly (205-88, college: Kansas St., agency: HMS) scored 18 points and 7 rebounds. Mamak DSI moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Meliksah. Meliksah lost third consecutive game. Mamak DSI will face higher ranked Akhisar Bld (#6) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
