Very predictable result when fourth ranked CSU Sibiu (6-3) won against bottom-ranked Gaz Metan (1-8) in Medias 84-74 on Saturday. CSU Sibiu forced 20 Gaz Metan turnovers. American guard Kevin Hardy (188-93, college: McNeese St.) nailed a double-double by scoring 11 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and international point guard Octavian Calota (186-84) accounted for 17 points and 6 rebounds. Four CSU Sibiu players scored in double figures. Lithuanian center Robertas Grabauskas (208-90, college: Northwood) came up with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 16 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and Belarusian-Russian Aliaksandr Pustahvar (202-85) added 18 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Gaz Metan in the defeat. Gaz Metan's coach Mihai Popa tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for CSU Sibiu. They moved-up to third place. Gaz Metan lost their sixth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with eight games lost. They share it with BC Timisoara. CSU Sibiu will meet at home CS Dinamo Bucuresti (#6) in the next round. Gaz Metan will play against the league's second-placed Oradea (#2) and hope to win that game.
