Regular Season Round 7: FIATC Joventut - Real Madrid 69-79
Date: November 22, 2015
Everything could happen in Badalona at the game between two tied teams. Both fifth ranked Real Madrid and 4th placed FIATC Joventut had identical 5-1 record. But FIATC Joventut was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Madrid 79-69 on Sunday night. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Real Madrid. FIATC Joventut was better in fourth quarter 25-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded FIATC Joventut 41-25 including a 29-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for the former international Felipe Reyes (204-80) who led his team to a victory scoring 16 points and 9 rebounds. Mexican power forward Gustavo Ayon (207-85, college: San Jose St., agency: Duran International) helped adding 11 points and 7 rebounds. Four Real Madrid players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Brandon Paul (193-91, college: Illinois) responded with 20 points and 5 rebounds and center Nacho Llovet (201-91) scored 18 points. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Real Madrid. Defending champion (6-1) moved-up to second place, which they share with FC Barcelona and Laboral Kutxa. Loser FIATC Joventut dropped to the fifth position with two games lost. Real Madrid will face Bilbao Basket (#7) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. FIATC Joventut will play against Blusens Monbus in Santoago de Comp and hope to win that game.
