Guangdong Dolphins (1-1) recorded a loss in Urumqi. Visitors were edged by Xinjiang (1-1) 64-62. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Guangdong Dolphins won fourth quarter 23-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American center Tina Charles (193-88, college: Connecticut) notched 17 points and 8 rebounds to lead the effort and guard Lee Wang (170-92) supported her with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Even 16 points and 8 rebounds by international forward Sijing Huang (192-96) did not help to save the game for Guangdong Dolphins. Forward Lin Zhu (180-88) added 14 points and 9 rebounds for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Xinjiang will play against Shanxi Rui Flame (#6) in Taiyuan in the next round. Guangdong Dolphins will play on the road against Shenyang Golden Lions in Dandong and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
