Regular Season Round 12: Stary Sobol NT - Kirov 79-62

The most important game in the last round took place in Nizhny Tagil between third ranked Kirov (7-7) and sixth ranked Stary Sobol NT (5-5) on Thursday night. Kirov was defeated by Stary Sobol NT on the road 62-79. Stary Sobol NT dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Kirov's 28. It was a good game for center Aleksandr Vertelov (205-91) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Aleksey Makarov (191-92) contributed with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Five Stary Sobol NT players scored in double figures. Stary Sobol NT's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Konstantin Smotrov (185-96) replied with 20 points and 5 rebounds and Nikita Burkov added 11 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Kirov. Stary Sobol NT moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Sogdiana-Skif. Newly promoted Kirov keeps the third position with seven games lost. Stary Sobol NT is looking forward to face league's leader Dynamo-MGTU in Maykop in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Kirov will have a break next round.
