Regular Season Round 8: Impuls BGUIR - GOCOR-Sozh 87-64

Bottom-ranked GOCOR-Sozh (0-7) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their seventh consecutive match to third ranked Impuls BGUIR (4-3) 87-64. The game without a history. Impuls BGUIR led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Impuls BGUIR forced 20 GOCOR-Sozh turnovers and outrebounded them 41-26 including a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Impuls BGUIR players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. The winners were led by the former international guard Maksim Shustov (186-86) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 21 points, 11 assists and 4 steals and guard Kiril Volodkin (190-91) supported him with 25 points and 4 assists. Even 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists by point guard Tsimafei Viaroukin (187-93) did not help to save the game for GOCOR-Sozh. Power forward Aleksandr Kopacev (203-95) added 14 points for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Impuls BGUIR have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 4-3 record having just three points less than leader Grodno-93, which they share with Vitebsk and Tsmoki II. GOCOR-Sozh at the other side still closes the standings with seven games lost. Impuls BGUIR will play against Prinemanye (#7) in Grodno in the next round. GOCOR-Sozh will play at home against Tsmoki II and hopes to get finally their first victory.
