Regular Season Round 11: St Vallier - Challans 78-71

There was a surprise result when ninth ranked Saint Vallier (6-4) defeated at home higher ranked Vendee Challans (6-4) 78-71 on Saturday. Vendee Challans trailed by 16 points after 3 quarters before a 30-21 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 71-78 at the end of the game. Saint Vallier dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Vendee Challans' 34. Vendee Challans was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was power forward Harry Disy (200-84, college: Louisiana Tech) who scored 22 points. Jonathan Hoyaux (196-88) chipped in 15 points and 4 assists. Four Saint Vallier players scored in double figures. DR Congolese-Belgian forward Ruphin Kayembe (200-92) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and naturalized Mali point guard Ibrahim Saounera (180-87) added 20 points respectively for the guests. Saint Vallier moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Vendee Challans. Saint Vallier will face SAP Vaucluse (#11) in Sorgues in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Vendee Challans will play at home against Caen (#12) and hope to win that game.
