Regular Season Round 10: La Fecha - Cantbasket 60-64

Rather predictable result in Arroyo Encomienda where twelfth ranked Cantbasket (2-4) defeated bottom-ranked La Fecha (0-6) 64-60 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 64-60. Cantbasket dominated on the defensive end, holding La Fecha to just 7 points in second quarter. They also forced 20 La Fecha turnovers and outrebounded them 42-23 including a 30-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. La Fecha was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard DeAngelo Hailey (190-90, college: NW Missouri St.) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and power forward Tomas Ramon (203-84) chipped in 8 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side guard Janes Casimiro (190-92) responded with 14 points and guard Jorge Martinez (181-96) scored 7 points, 6 assists and 5 steals. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Cantbasket moved-up to eighth place in Group A-A, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted La Fecha still closes the standings with six games lost. Cantbasket will face league's second-placed Santurtzi at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. La Fecha will play against Ardoi (#4) in Zizur Mayor and hopes to get finally their first victory.
