Regular Season Round 10: Gran Canaria - Alcobendas 63-85

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both tenth ranked Alcobendas and 8th ranked Gran Canaria had identical 2-4 record. But Gran Canaria was not able to use a home court advantage and was rolled over by the opponent from Alcobendas 85-63 on Saturday night. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 9-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 85-63. Alcobendas dominated on the defensive end, holding Gran Canaria to just 7 points in third quarter. Center Jorge Tejera (200-92) had a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds (on 14-of-18 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and power forward Daniel Busto (200-92, college: Ohlone CC) chipped in 13 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side forward Jose Blazquez (197-97) responded with 15 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and Latvian guard Dzeiks-Eduards Krumins (186-97) scored 12 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Alcobendas (3-4) moved-up to eighth place in Group B. Loser Gran Canaria dropped to the ninth position with five games lost. Alcobendas will face Casvi (#10) in Villaviciosa in the next round. Gran Canaria will play on the road against Azuqueca and hope to win that game.
