Regular Season Round 16: Petrochema - Silute 84-67

There was no surprise in Jonava where 11th ranked Silute (6-10) was defeated by sixth ranked Petrochema (9-7) 84-67 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Petrochema. Silute was better in third quarter 26-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Petrochema dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Silute's 32. Petrochema forced 20 Silute turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Point guard Lukas Grabauskas (194-95) fired 13 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Evaldas Aniulis (186-92, college: High School) chipped in 8 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. Four Petrochema players scored in double figures. Ignas Vaitkus (196-93) produced 18 points and 7 rebounds and forward Edvinas Alunderis (202-92) added 12 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Petrochema moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Perlas-MRU. Loser Silute keeps the eleventh position with ten games lost. Petrochema will face Perlas-MRU (#6) in Vilnius in the next round. Silute will play on the road against Telsiai (#8) in Telsiu and hope to win that game.
