Leader Utena delivered the seventh victory. This time they crushed 5th ranked Fortuna (2-6) 74-47 in Klaipeda. The game without a history. Utena led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Fortuna to just 6 points in second quarter. Utena held Fortuna to an opponent 24.1 percent shooting from the field compared to 40.3 percent accuracy of the winners. Utena forced 23 Fortuna turnovers and outrebounded them 47-33 including 19 on the offensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Ieva Simkute (191-89) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 6 rebounds. International swingman Marina Solopova (180-90) contributed with 10 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Center Justina Matuzonyte (195-94) answered with 10 points and 8 rebounds and forward Simona Dobrovolskyte (180-94) added 12 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Fortuna. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Utena (7-1) have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place. Fortuna at the other side keeps the fifth position with six games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
