Regular Season Round 10: Sakarya BSB - Meliksah 69-64 OT

Fourteenth-ranked Meliksah (3-7) was very close to win a game against sixth ranked Sakarya BSB (7-3) in Sakaraya on Saturday. Sakarya BSB managed to secure only five-point victory 69-64. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Meliksah won third quarter 17-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Meliksah used huge pressure winning it 16-12 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 7-12. Sakarya BSB made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. American players dominated the game. Sean Evans (203-88, college: St.John's) notched a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds to lead the effort and point guard Terry Smith (185-86, college: Mercyhurst) supported him with 14 points. Sakarya BSB's coach Okan Cevik allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 18 points, 8 rebounds and 6 blocks by Curtis Kelly (205-88, college: Kansas St., agency: HMS) did not help to save the game for Meliksah. Guard Jeremy Ingram (190-92, college: N.C.Central) added 14 points and 8 rebounds for lost side. Sakarya BSB moved-up to third place, which they share with Denizli and Gediz. Meliksah lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth position with seven games lost. They share it with Bandirma Kir. and Final Genclik. Sakarya BSB will meet Akhisar Bld (#7) on the road in the next round. Meliksah will play against Balikesir (#9) and hope to secure a win.
