There was a small surprise when sixth ranked San Miniato (6-4) defeated at home 4th ranked Santarcangelo (7-3) 92-79 on Sunday. San Miniato forced 20 Santarcangelo turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Santarcangelo's players. Guard Francesco Stefanelli (190-95) scored 23 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists to lead the charge for the winners and forward Roberto Bertolini (198-86) chipped in 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. San Miniato's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side swingman Luca Bedetti (193-89, agency: Interperformances) responded with 18 points and center Alberto Saponi (202-85) scored 11 points and 7 rebounds. Four San Miniato and five Santarcangelo players scored in double figures. Newly promoted San Miniato maintains sixth position in B with 6-4 record, which they share with Lecco. Santarcangelo at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fourth place with three games lost. San Miniato will face league's leader Cecina on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Santarcangelo will play against Livorno and hope to win that game.
