Regular Season Round 9: GOCOR-Sozh - Tsmoki II 61-69

Bottom-ranked GOCOR-Sozh (0-8) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 69-61 loss to fifth ranked Tsmoki II (5-3) in Gomel on Tuesday evening. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 20-10. But GOCOR-Sozh won second period 22-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Tsmoki II won last quarter 18-12. Tsmoki II outrebounded GOCOR-Sozh 47-27 including a 34-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Forward Maksim Lyutych (200-97) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and point guard Andrey Stavrovskiy (185-97) chipped in 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was point guard Tsimafei Viaroukin (187-93) with 20 points and 5 assists and point guard Artem Stankevich (185-95) scored 18 points and 6 rebounds. Tsmoki II moved-up to third place, which they share with Impuls BGUIR. GOCOR-Sozh lost their eighth game in a row. They still close the standings with eight games lost. Tsmoki II will meet Prinemanye (#7) in the next round. GOCOR-Sozh will play against BGEU-RCOR and hopes to get finally their first victory.
