Regular Season Round 8: Lietkabelis - TLU/Kalev 101-72

Baltic League top team - Lithuanian Lietkabelis (6-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed fifth ranked Estonian TLU/Kalev (3-5) in Panevezys 101-72. The game without a history. Lietkabelis led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to TLU/Kalev's 38 and made 24-of-30 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game, while TLU/Kalev only scored four points from the stripe. Lietkabelis players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. TLU/Kalev was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a quality performance of American guard Jermaine Love-Roberts (188-89, college: Ill.-Springfield) who helped to win the game recording 11 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists and Bosnian-Serbian center Mile Ilic (215-84) who added 16 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Lietkabelis' coach felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Canadian guard Johnny Berhanemeskel (188-92, agency: Two Points) responded with 22 points and 6 rebounds and forward Kaido Saks (207-86, agency: Blacktop Management) scored 11 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Lietkabelis have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 6-1 record. TLU/Kalev at the other side keeps the fifth place with five games lost. They share the position with Jurmala. Lietkabelis will play against Barons Riga (#6) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. TLU/Kalev will have a break next round.
