Regular Season Round 16: BK Opava - CEZ Nymburk 75-95

Bottom-ranked CEZ Nymburk managed to get a third victory. This time defending champion outleveled fourth-ranked BK Opava 95-75. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 20-point difference suggests that CEZ Nymburk is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. BK Opava was ahead by 3 points at the halftime before a 51-28 second half run of CEZ Nymburk. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to BK Opava's 32. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Jiri Welsch (199-80) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 6 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). American guard Michael Dixon (186-90, college: Memphis) contributed with 21 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winners. The former international guard Jakub Sirina (186-87) replied with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and point guard Rostislav Dragoun (192-96) added 11 points in the effort for BK Opava. Five CEZ Nymburk and four BK Opava players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion (3-1) moved-up to eleventh place. BK Opava at the other side keeps the fourth position with six games lost. CEZ Nymburk will play against higher ranked USK Praha (#5) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. BK Opava will play against the league's leader BK Decin having rather not much hope for a victory.
